Head of University Department has visited the Fire
Service
In
the middle of July dr. László Jakabházy, Head of University
Department, visited to Paks to get to know the recreational
activity of the Nuclear Power Plant Fire Service.
Dr. László Jakabházy’s successes achieved in top-ranking
sports are well-known. He was an ice-hockey champion
seventeen times, the head coach of FTC (Ferencváros
Sports Club) three times and a member of the national
team 86 times. As a coach Hungarian champions, Olympic
and World Champions have emerged from among his hands
in ice-hockey, football and wrestling. He has been a
teacher at the University of Physical Education for
30 years. He is the Head of the Department of Recreation
and an expectant for an appointment of university professor.
Several publications, books of his have been issued.
He is a sportsman, teacher and psychologist in one person.
He handles the recreation as national sports health.
- What kind of impressions have you acquired about the
Nuclear Power Plant Fire Service?
- I made sure of the organization of a high degree.
The practical and theoretical work of the firemen is
ensured by high-level equipment, which can serve as
a model for other fire services in the country. Besides
the machines, equipment the attitude and that ideal
value with which the physical education and sports are
handled here are extremely exemplary. The firemen’s
dangerous work, serious profession meaning life-danger
is known for all, and in this respect the men’s motivation
particularly remarkable.
- How do you see the sports activity?
- In the focus of my interest the increase of the level
of the firemen’s conditional hardiness and making the
sports activities more diversified was standing. I see
that they could move forward only in making the sports
activity more diversified, since they have established
a great number of things. It is important that the firemen
should be healthy in their physical condition and mentally
as well. The staying power, quickness, physical conditional
state are at a definite place, but above all such consciousness,
such a way of thinking are needed with which they undertake
the danger. It is not an easy task, this is already
the peak of the profession. It is necessary to acquire
the due temper, motivation, in which the Nuclear Power
Plant Fire Service follows the best track.
- How do you sum up the result of the visit?
- On my part I will urge on the establishment of a cooperation
agreement between the University of Physical Education
and the Nuclear Power Plant Fire Service. We could help
each other in a great number of ways. On our part we
would offer different trainings, and in this way we
would support the firemen to acquire qualifications
of sports instructors, with which they could develop
their lifestyle. The nuclear power plant could support
us by transmitting its own experience within the frame
of lectures. The firemen having great practice, sense
of vocation could transmit a high mental-moral level,
and I am convinced that the Nuclear Power Plant Fire
Service is leading in this respect.
- What do you profess as your ars poetics?
- Get tired to be rested! – it is the base of my life
philosophy. At first one should work, in all fields
and very hard. I profess it open-heartedly, and my own
lifestyle is its proof at the age of 65. It is important
to train ourselves in our physical condition every day.
I met similar people in Paks, I got acquainted with
at least 20-25 young men, about whom it seems that the
nuclear power plant is in good hands.
- Thank you for the talk!
