First Aid Guinness Record Attempt

First Aid record has been achieved by the Hungarian Red Cross. The team was grouped from 10 voluntary persons having basic or intermediate knowledge of first aid.

The National Management of Hungarian Red Cross would have liked to see 6 persons from the staff of Nuclear Power Plant Fire Service. It gave the ground for the invitation of the significant participation rate that the firemen from the nuclear power plant have been participated in national first aid competitions for six years, where they have achieved nice results. They have been able to stand up the highest place of the winner’s stand three times. They have represented our country in Slovakia, Italy, Austria, international competitions and in the European Championship.
Unfortunately, for the participation we were able to delegate only four persons, because the dates of organization of the record attempt and the National Firemen’s Competition of Establishment Fire Services concurred. The record attempt took place on the stage of the tropical house in Campona shopping centre from 6.30 a.m on 10th September 2004 to 6.30 a.m. on 11th September 2004. It aimed at popularization of first aid, promotion of its social acknowledgement, calling the attention to the importance of first aid, the possibilities of life-saving.
The task consisted of the followings: elementary revivification on a training puppet with the contribution of two ambulance workers, checking bleeding without any device, and placement of pressure bandage onto the upper limb, establishment of a stabile position with lying on one’s side, immobilization of an injured upper limb by means of a triangular shawl.
The record attempt contained periods of 11x6 minutes, the participants started to execute the next series of tasks of 11x6 minutes after the expiry of a period.
The 24 hours’ record attempt was successful, its successfulness is proved by the members of jury, the computer and video recordings.
At the end of the 24 hours the team members left the stage tired, but happily. The attempt was successful, and it is to be hoped that the importance of first aid left an impression in the people having seen them, so the sphere of life-saving possibilities has expanded.
We congratulate to the participants of the record attempt and are proud of the firemen, by name: Zsolt Lesták, Szilárd Papp, Roland Fehér, Ferenc Rodenbücher.
