For the Protection of Life and Safety
Trade Competition of Firemen

2005 Trade Contest of Tolna County Fire Brigades was arranged in Szekszárd on 30 August. Teams of professional municipality fire departments from Szekszárd, Dombóvár and Paks as well as the Fire Brigade of the Nuclear Power Plant took part in the tough trade contest to demonstrate their professional competence. Firemen from the Nuclear Power Plant of Paks did their best, setting a good example as always. They were the winners of several categories, and were finally placed first in the competition as whole.

Team members were Norbert Dorogi, Roland Fehér, Zoltán Kobányai, Miklós Lengyel, Zsolt Lesták and Ferenc Viniczai.

In the theoretical portion of the competition, commanders, drivers and the executive staffs had to answer questions different for these three groups. For the drivers, overcoming the challenges raised by the racetrack was also part of the practical contest. The competing teams had a difficult job to solve; among others, they had to mount water jet, put a tension cutter in working order, attend casualties and perform rescue tasks. All of the teams demonstrated high-level professional competence, thorough theoretical knowledge and exemplary prompt practical performance. Since the competition was open to the public, many could see firemen’s work, speaking then highly of their courage and skill. Observers could experience the firemen’s fight, dangers inherent in the fight fought against the flames, and their highly responsible work devoted to the safety and protection of human lives.

In the next round of the elimination contest, an all-professional fire-fighting team will represent Tolna County. Of course, the Fire Brigade of the Nuclear Power Plant will not be coasting on their laurels, either. The result they managed to score made the Head of Rescue Operations Division of the National Disaster Prevention Administration invite them to enter the Final of the 2005 National Trade Competition of Firemen.
Praise and tribute to the firemen!
