Tolna County’s Firemen Encountered

Tolna County’s Disaster Prevention Administration arranged its small-field football championship with long years of tradition in the Sports Hall of Technical School ‘Dániel Csapó’, located in Palánk, on 30 September 2005.
As long standing tradition has it, teams of Tolna County’s Disaster Prevention Administration and the Fire Brigade of the Nuclear Power Plant were also invited to take part in the competition in addition to four professional local government fire departments based in our county.
Fighting spirits of the six teams, arranged by draw into two groups of three each, rose high.
Teams of Paks’ and Dombóvár’s Professional Local Government Fire Departments were drawn for the Nuclear Power Plant’s Fire Brigade to qualify for the semifinal.
The first match was fought between the two Paks-based teams; in fact, it could have been fought for the final victory in the tournament. The teams met in a very exciting and close indeed fight for the first place within the group, with the ours finally winning 2 – 1.
Our next match was with Dombóvár’s, won by a 7-goal difference.
On the other leg, teams of Professional Local Government Fire Departments of Szekszárd and Bonyhád as well as Tolna County’s Disaster Prevention Administration tried their strength on the football ground. The Szekszárd-based team won the group, so they qualified for the final to bring matters to a head with the other group winner.
In the first half of the final, both teams played hot but Power Plant’s was then gaining step by step the advantage over Szekszárd; this and fatigue made both teams slacken speed.
The match ended in 6 – 2 to the team of the Power Plant’s Fire Brigade.
Fire Lieutenant Colonel Lajos Szilasi, Head of Dept. from Tolna County’s Disaster Prevention Administration handed over the challenge cup to the captain of the team of the Power Plant’s Fire Brigade. In actual fact, the cup went home because Power Plant’s knights of flame took part in the tournament as titleholders.

Team members: László Szinta, János Lacza, István Kovács, János Hanh, István Major (trainer), Tamás Szabó, Károly Fodor, Tamás Sipos, Miklós Lengyel.
Congratulations on the success!
