Special Prize to Ambulance Crew

Ambulance Service of the Nuclear Power Plant of Paks was placed fourth, and also won a special prize at the end of the first international competition of ambulance crews in Csopak, Hungary.

As Fire Fighting and Technical Rescue Chief István Schreiner informed, the Ambulance Service has been operative in the Power Plant of Paks since the autumn of 2005, on permanent 24/7 readiness. The contest in Csopak with 16 participating teams proved to be a good occasion for measuring their knowledge and rescue skills. The teams had to run along a course across 9 stations with various challenges to overcome. Let’s take inventory of just some simulated cases, by way of example, involving injuries that the teams had to take care of in the right way: a water accident involving a jet ski running over a swimmer, applying first aid to people injured by aggressive and poisonous chemicals, stabilizing the condition of people wounded in an explosion, dressing their wounds.

Also, they had to demonstrate how to save a wounded person from a deep shaft. The team of Ambulance Service of the Nuclear Power Plant of Paks was not a disgrace to Paks at all – they were placed fourth winning a special prize as the team that offered the best practical solutions. Our team members were by name: ambulance officer dr. Gábor Szvitán, ambulance technician Rajmund Pesztericz as service chief, ambulance technician Norbert Dorogi as fire technician and trained ambulance technician Ferenc Bán as fire technician and driver.
