Lajos Zelei – Still In Service
This year’s St. Florian Day, Municipality of the City of Paks awarded
an honorary cup to fireman Lajos Zelei, an active member of the Nuclear
Power Plant Fire Service, on the occasion of his 60th birthday as a
recognition of his unflagging firmness and dedication to the profession
of fire fighters.
Fireman since 1979, Lajos Zelei is still active in spite of having
reached the retirement age. What makes him go on working are his huge
love for the profession of fire fighters, adherence to the Nuclear
Power Plant of Paks and to be the member of a great job community. He
said that there were many factors making him keep on working up to this
day as almost all his life is all about this profession.
In response to my question as to what are his most pleasant
memories of times past, he answered that perhaps it was when they could
move into the spacious new barracks, equipped with all modern
equipment, built by the Nuclear Power Plant. Everything was fine with
brand new engines lined up in rows. Then those engines were the most
up-to-date ones throughout in Hungary and they were really happy about
that.
During decades of working as a fireman, Lajos Zelei received
honours and rewards several times. On the occasion of his 60th
birthday, we congratulate him for the recent recognition and wish him
all the best in his work and good health.
