Getting Inside Fire Dragon – Live Drill at Nuclear Power Plant

Fire fighters of Dunaújváros also had an opportunity to test a fire simulation truck with burning flames and several hundred degrees of centigrade inside the cargo space.

10 firemen from each service team could test their skills; it was today that the last team travelled to the Nuclear Power Plant. The fire simulation truck Dräger Safety Fire Dragon offers the most up-to-date training available to fire fighters. Unfortunately, we haven’t yet any one of them in Hungary.

It’s really a hell on earth that firemen encounter inside the truck body with smoke, sound and light effects aggravated by 200 to 300 °C temperatures at a height of 1 m and 500 to 600 °C on top of the firing chamber. Firemen have to perform a 15-minute exercise under such circumstances when they can communicate only with gestures.

‘We have many rookies, therefore appreciate this opportunity with many thanks to Fire Chief Péter Bőhm and training executive József Tóbi. In addition to the customary physical stress and fire fighting exercise, the simulation drill creates fire situations where firemen must creep and climb just like in real life. All those who try Fire Dragon can learn a lot.’
