Special Prize For Catfish Stew
Nationalities Days, Györköny, Hungary, 6 to 9 August.
Cooking contest „Üstökösök”, arranged first time this year, resulted in a diverse choice of fine food. And the atmosphere was also very good. Cheerful members of 11 teams soon mixed up thanks to the really unique environment of Pincehegy (Cellar Hill) and the nice people who attended the event.
Scores: Pensioners’ Club, Györköny, was placed first with a stuffed cabbage. “Slambuc” (a kind of Hungarian paste food) with wild pig stew by team Debrecen/Derecske came in second, and Györkönyi Pincehegyért Egyesület (Association for the Cellar Hill, Györköny) was the third place winner with a mutton stew. Catfish stew served with “sztrapacska” (another paste food) by the team of NPP Fire Service scored a special prize.
The copious meal was still at its height when the Wine Tour departed as the third effort to direct a wider attention to Cellar Hill and its quality wines. The event was a delight again to take part in, attracting more visitors than ever before. Internet bidding for the 100 unique Wine Tour glasses totalled an amount of nearly 60,000 forints that Györkönyi Pincehegyért Egyesület will allot to Cellar Hill’s development and improvement.
