Family Open Day 2009

Nuclear Power Plant’s Family Open Day, arranged as always on the first Sunday of September, is now a living tradition. This year, employees of MVM Informatika Zrt., MVM Kontó Zrt. and ERBE Zrt., in addition to those of Paks Nuclear Power Plant and Atomix Kft., also had the opportunity to show family members and friends where they work.

The first Family Open Day, held in 2001, attracted 500 guests. This year’s Open Day had 1,500 visitors, which indicates an increasing interest in the programmes of the Day from year to year.

After the official opening of the Day by CEO János Süli, visitors, irrespective of age, were taken to a light railway excursion to show them round the Plant, with adults also allowed to walk round or ride a bicycle. Meanwhile, children enjoyed a rich programme including crafts, angling, live table football, climbing wall, bouncy castle and face painting. The fire engine cherry picker was among the favourites this year, as well. However, the new exhibition at the Information and Visitor Centre also attracted great interest.

This year, firemen set up a so-called imitation smoke tent and pleased children with the usual foam fall. Then, guests had some pita filled with ox roast for lunch. Finally, this fantastic Family Open Day was crowned by a Miklós Fenyő show. Fenyő Show closing a delightful open weekend.
