Book and Editor
A new book titled “Atomerőmű Tűzoltóság húsz éve, 1990-2010” (20 Years of NPP Fire Service, 1990 – 2010) published for the 20th anniversary of the establishment of NPP Fire Service was presented on 13 October. It was Mrs. Anna Zoltánné Lovászi, chief editor of the paper “Atomerőmű”, who summed up the story of the fire organization in the form of a book.
From 1986 to 1995, Mrs. Zoltánné Lovászi was working as secretary executive at Nuclear Power Plant’s Technical School and then, from 1995 to 2009, as secretary at the Industrial Safety Department. Since 1 December 2009, she has been working for NPP as a staff member of the Information and Visitor Centre and also as chief editor of the paper “Atomerőmű”. In former years, she helped publish the paper as assistant chief editor. She obtained, earlier this year, higher professional qualifications required for her new job.
It is already 30 years since Anna has committed herself to writing – she writes news reports both for local and national papers, edits books and other publications. In addition, she has an active social life, and is a member in various associations. She has received several recognitions, including honours “Urántoll” (2001) and “Céggyűrű” (2007).
Her connections with the fire profession look back on a long period. She writes regular news reports on fire-related events for both “Atomerőmű” and other trade papers. Her work was recognized with a Ring of Honour. She has gained hands-on experience in all the dedication, persistence and performance that have been the key to our firemen’s achievements. She takes pride in feeling like one of them, and that is why she welcomed the request of Fire Chief Péter Bőhm for editing the book.
It was just last year that she set about to process source materials and documentations. Ret. Fire Col. István Csőglei’s book on Fire Service’ first ten years was a great contribution to her work. As she said, editorial work and consultations on both content and form went smoothly.
Preface and Recommendations are followed in the book by a retrospective description of the early years, and then the writer touches upon issues like company form, relevant legislation, corporate image and quality management system.
The detailed presentation of activities treats at length fire prevention, fire fighting and technical rescue operations as well as contractual and non-contractual tasks. Besides activities related to Atomix’ own functioning and special branches, operations of NPP Ambulance Service is also presented in the book. Separate chapters are dedicated to the crew, training methods, drills, contests, health promotion, performance assessment, recognitions, equipment, future goals, public relations, visitors and the records of the last 10 years. The Annex features interesting photos and paper articles.
The author’s respect for firemen clearly appears throughout the book, in this credible and readable presentation of the 20 years of NPP Fire Service’ existence.
