Our Firefighters’ Team Came In Second

Paks-Kótaj, Hungary

This year, the Independent Trade Union of Professional Firefighters arranged the national angling competition for firefighters at the picturesque Verba Ranch in Kótaj near Nyíregyháza. 42 teams entered this great event, which already has a 13-year long tradition, and is also a friendly meeting, with competing team members arranged into three sectors.

The angling competition was held on a beautiful sunny day, slightly breezy though, but the sudden increase in air temperature after the start finally spoiled fish appetite. In spite of this, catches over 15 kg were needed for a victory in each of the three sectors.

NPP Fire Service team, with Tamás Gyöngyösi, Erik Pintér, László Szabó as team members and Károly Fodor as coordinator, got the second place behind the Fire Department of Szolnok. The biggest fish was caught in the competition by Tamás Gyöngyösi, placed third within his sector, while László Szabó was placed second in his sector.
