Plant-Based Firemen’s Drill In a Building On Fire
NPP Knights of Flames Selected and Trained With Utmost Diligence

Paks-Százhalombatta

This week, NPP Fire Service personnel practice drills on MOL Nyrt. Duna Refinery’s preparation course. The annual training programme of ATOMIX Kft. Fire Fighting and Damage Prevention Branch includes drilling at FER Fire Department Complex in Százhalombatta, Hungary every year. This preparation course offers firemen a great opportunity to develop skills under real-life conditions.

The preparation course features, among others, a three-level fire simulation building where Knights of Flames have to face complex challenges. After putting out a roof edge fire, fire fighters must break into the burning staircase, extinguish the fire in a switchbox and then, in another room, they have to cope with a so-called flashover situation, i.e. a burst of flames shooting up below the ceiling. As firemen are moving along the preparation course they have to put out various types of fire featuring different characteristics and remove a gas cylinder from the danger zone. The fire corridor is a course station where, as its name suggests, firemen wearing, of course, appropriate protective clothing have to walk along among burning flames.

ATOMIX Fire and Rescue Head István Schreiner said that the goal of the practice-centred training programme NPP Fire Service has in place was to ensure that physically and psychically well-prepared fire fighters with appropriate theoretical knowledge and practical skills are available. This way, each member of the Fire Service personnel is undergoing a training programme strategically designed to comprise all required special knowledge and skills. “Besides acquiring general knowledge and skills for professional fire protection, our firemen are trained in the use of alpine fire rescue means, first aid measures, the extinction of fires of live electric equipment and elevator rescue operations. We take great care in selecting each member of our prospective personnel and apply the same level of care and thoroughness in their continuous training of many years,” István Schreiner emphasized.
